I used an air fryer to get the tofu crispy but you could easily do this in the oven as well. Add this to stir fry, pasta, or a rice bowl.

How To Make Crispy Five-Spice Tofu

This tofu technique works well with many different flavor profiles including Mexican, Italian, and of course Asian flavors. For the Mexican flavors, season the tofu with chili lime seasoning or a taco spice mix. Add a small amount of salsa on top, then add the panko bread crumbs. Cook in the air fryer or oven.
Make your favorite vegetables and a side of rice and you have a very healthy dinner.
If you don’t have an air fryer the oven works just fine. Place the tofu on a baking sheet, and cook in an oven set at 425 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

Ingredients
- 16 ounces firm tofu
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp five-spice powder
- 3 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 2 scallions thinly sliced
- ⅓ cup panko bread crumbs
Instructions
How to make crispy tofu
- Press the tofu for 10 minutes.
- Cut the tofu into 8 squares.
- Season the tofu with kosher salt, and five-spice powder. Gently rub into the tofu.
- Place a dab of sweet chili sauce on top of each tofu square, spread the sauce over the tofu, and sprinkle the scallions over the top.
- Sprinkle and press the panko bread crumbs onto the top of the tofu.
- Repeat with the other side.
- Cook in an air fryer for 25-30 minutes set at 400 degrees.
- The tofu should be crispy and a light golden brown color.
